Help How to transfer files to PC.....and what is Kies?

I tried playing around with Kies last night and have a few questions. I was able to open up the screen with the internet browser and view all my fiels. All I want to do is transfer pictures and video to my computer every so often as a back up. Is there a way to do this without plugging usb cable into pc via Kies?

Install "EStrong's File Explorer", enable "Show tabs", go to "LAN" tab, find your PC's shared folders, and then copy/paste as needed.
