Help How to type a back slash

I've looked at all the keyboards I have (Swype, SHapeWriter, etc.) and nowhere can I find the backslash character to type. I know it's gotta be there somewhere. Manual for the Incred. Says nothing. I looked. I promise. I looked.

Press the '12#' button then the '1/2' button. Top row, 6 from the left.

can you get to symbols and special characters from the keypad keyboard or only from the qwerty?
