Root How To Unlock This Thing ?

A friend forgot both his Pattern & email for this phone, I told him i could probably unlock it but it might erase all the data. Is there a way to unlock it? it isnt rooted.
 
only way i know of is to do a factory data reset through stock recovery which they will lose all user data on the phone thats not on the sd card
