Help How to update Android 2.2 to 2.3 ?

Is 2.3 now available in LG Optimus Black ?
Can someone please teach me how to update my phone's Android ?

You will need to install the 'LGMobile update' program or 'LG PC Suite IV'

I contacted LG recently and they said it will be available from the 12th onwards in the UK, but don't hold your breath, they also said it would be available commencing the 28th November

Where do you download it from? Is there an app on the phone that you can download it from like MarketPlace or do we have to download to comp & transfer it. The LG AppAdvisor or LG SmartWorld cannot be be used for this it seems.

Has anybody had success with the upgrade ? and it it any better?

I was thinking of updating my operating system as well. But it's kind of risky, don't know if it's worth it.

I received an update to 2.3.4 but i'm seeing huge battery issues right now. GPS stays always on, fully draining my battery in standby time in 9 hours!!

maybe a setting somewhere? Seems to be the GPS that's causing the drain as it only went on when necessary in 2.2.2

this is my first and last lg phone after 1/2hr of downloading the software it f#$@n freezes on me not once but twice.
