Root How to upgrade android operating systems

hey can someone help me how to upgrade form android version 2.2.2/2.2 to 4.0? i have the LG optimus 3d at the moment.

Hello raghavsd9 and welcome to Android Forums.

I think you should be able to by going to settings > and go to software update, but I'm not sure since I have a different device.

As far as I know and I've tried twice tonight, the only available update is 2.3.5 (hasn't got to ics yet....)

Went via lgs update program, that says there is an update for the 3d but after 20mins or so only installs 2.3.5... :/

Think LG missed the release period for the ics on 3d ... like many lg products.

Seems like they are more focused on the new and forgetting the released devices. I emailed them in August and got a non-commital time period for the ics saying keep an eye on the website for ics updates.
