Try this:I am replacing my class 2 8gb card with a class 10 16gb. What is the best way to partition correctly and transfer files without flasing the rom again?
Edit: Maybe I should have continued this in the thread I started about Mik3D...
hmm?Try this:
old sd card in phone, transfer contents to computer.
Power down phone, remove old sd card, insert new sd card.
Boot into bootloader, then from there into recovery. Select partition sd card
Partition sd card to ext-3...set swap to 0, partition size 1028, the rest for fat32. While in recovery, plug phone into computer, use the usbms toggle to mount phone and move files back to new sd card...unmount phone, reboot.
Select SD: ext2 to ext3hmm?
Under partition sdcard is
Partition sdcard
Repair sd:ext
SD:ext2 to ext3
SD:ext3 to ext4
I selected partition sdcard, set swap size to 0, partition size to 1024, remainder fat32. HOWEVER, i believe it wants to partition ext2. I didnt see an option for ext3

Select SD: ext2 to ext3
then you are done.
If you decide later to go from ext3 to ext4, no data loss will occur.![]()
Got it. Had to partition sd first, then upgrade ext2 to ext3. Probably an Amon recovery thing being slightly different than CWM
Some of your app icons changed? For example, what apps? And they changed when? After partitioning? So now I have all my apps on sd, but I thought with dt baked that the icon on some of my apps wouldnt change to the generic droid one??

Some of your app icons changed? For example, what apps? And they changed when? After partitioning?![]()
What function did you use?Well I partitioned and used the function in the Mik3D rom to free up space by moving all aps to sd. So I am not sure when it happened, but I moved them as soon as I partitioned and transfered the files back to the card.
For example, the generic icon is on the following aps:
es file explorer, gas buddy, trapster, sound hound, pandora, netflix, camera ics, draw free, and TB.
Its not a major issue, but if there is an easy way to fix it, I'm game.
What function did you use?
The reason I asked was, does Mik3d have DarkTremors baked into the rom?Its built into the rom. under settings, sd & phone storage.

What WILL happen if you use the FroYo native apps2sd or Sam Lu's APPS2SD/Pro in conjunction with Dark Tremors a2sd:
Like I said at the beginning of this post, DarkTremors a2sd automatically moves all user apps to the SDext3 partition you created & creates a symlink to the /data/app folder so that the OS *thinks* your apps are being run from internal storage. When they are in fact being run from the sdext3 partition. If you use the FroYo native apps2sd, or Sam Lu's APPS2SD application & move your apps to the .android_secure folder on the root of your sd card you will BREAK DarkTremors a2sd and create a very undesirable scenario that will likely result in a restore or wipe & re-flash!!!
Essentially you think you are moving all of your user apps normally stored on the /data partition, to the .android_secure folder on the root of your SD card, when they were in reality already on the ext3 partition, If you do this, you will hate yourself.
I think he didsounds like you moved the apps to external sd storage, rather than the sd-ext, so this is probably why you got some issues.

The reason I asked was, does Mik3d have DarkTremors baked into the rom?
If it does, then there is no need to physically move your apps to sd card. Darktremors will do that automatically and move them to the ext3 you created, thereby freeing up internal memory. DT creates a symbolic link from the phone to the ext3, tricking the phone into thinking the apps are still on the internal memory. If you are physically moving apps to sd card and DT is trying to do its thing, I think something will misbehave. Let me link this info for you....

Edit: here is a more detailed guide about DTa2sd vs. Apps2sd
What you need to know about Apps2SD vs. DarkTremors a2sd
I have not run into this situation before.....I would assume that the rom is utilizing DTa2sd but I really do not know.... if it is, and you also moved apps to the sd card, and if your apps are not working quite right, it may be wise to reflash the rom after wiping all except sd card, and redownloading apps.ok, I will read and hopefully it will answer my next question....since I partitioned a new lager sd card after the rom was flashed, will i need to reinstall the apps?

If Mik3d has DTa2sd....follow?
hmm...do your apps function correctly?Ugh, just to get the icon right, its not worth reflashing and setting everything up again.
There are no more aps in internal memory for me to move, they all got moved to sd.

You could try moving them back to internal storage then clearing cache and dalvik in recovery.
You got Titanium backup? on the main screen where it lists your storage partitions, is there one for sd-ext?
Also if you got Terminal Emulator do the following:
type su then hit enter
type a2sd check
does it tell you a2sd is installed?
edit: posted the same time as you Mikey!!![]()

hmm...do your apps function correctly?
Just curious, do you have the Terminal Emulator app?
o.k...just for giggles, enter the commands like robobob posted...see if dt spits out anythingyes they function correctly, and yes i have TE

To see if DT is linking your apps to ext...Ok, what do you need to know from the check?
It says DT apps2sd 2.7.5.2 status report and then the details
$ export PATH=/data/local/bin:$PATH
$su
