How to upgrade to NeatRom

Hi Ironass,

I'm currently having the following:
Android version: 4.0.4
Kernel: Siyah v5.0.1

I would like to upgrade to NEAT ROM. My question is do I upgrade my ROM first or the Kernel?

Also, when you said to backup, did you mean to backup all the Apps & their data only (using Titanium Backup for e.g.) or are there other stuff that needs to backup?

I just realised that the NeatROM comes with "Kernel: XWLSS-v5.00.4-PhilZ", does that mean that I can just use Odin to flash to my SGSII and the kernel and ROM will be per NeatROM?

There are 2 ways to install NEAT ROM...

#1. Safe and Sure (Belt and braces)

Before doing anything further you should do a nandroid and Titanium backup.

You should also install Root Explorer, or a similar file manager, and use it to navigate to the, "/efs", file in the root directory of the phone and make a copy of this and put it on both your external SD card and PC as its loss or corruption in future could render your phone unusable and require a Samsung repair. Alternatively, you can install GSII Repair, free from the Play Store, to backup and restore your efs file.

These are your, "Get out of jail FREE" cards in case anything goes wrong, now or in the future.

Then follow the developers instructions in post #3, here, for, "Installation with Full wipe"


#2. Dirty Harry... Do you feel lucky? ( Don't come crying to me if it goes wrong)

Just follow the developers instructions in post #3, here, for, "Installation without wipe:"


The choice... is yours!
