Root how to use unrevoked3 in ubuntu

the first thing of course is to download unrevoked3 for linux. then go to system/administration/users and groups. add a new group, go through the list of things the group can be like admin,dev etc. go to root, choose that and then name the group then add your user to the group. after unrevoked3 has finished downloading extract it to desktop or where ever you want to put it. right click the icon that says reflash. go to properties/permissions. change the group to the group you just made. now the program is running as root. next go to your device make sure usb debugging is on. open the reflash program, connect your device and unrevoked should recognize it. then hit the reflash button, wait until unrevoked says done and your device reboots. there you go hope this helps for all you ubuntu users.

Your instructions are very hard to follow. Please make them a bit more user friendly for us old guys who still like to tinker but don't necesarily have a Linux background. I could use a bit more detail such as "click here, type this, do that".

Again, very much appreciate the help! I'm new to Ubuntu and some of it can be intimidating.

Why in the Lord's name are you playing around with permissions and groups? I am going to assume you are scared of a terminal, because that is the only reason to be doing it the way you are.

Download the zip and extract it. These instructions are for extracting it to Desktop.
Open terminal.

type

cd ~/Desktop
gksudo ./reflash.exe

Yay. All done.
