Hi Guys, I'm a complete nub on the smart phone scene.. Need some help haha.

So I'm just wondering how exactly do you find and download apps for the U8800 on your computer? I don't really want to be using the phone itself to download the stuff of teh internets, but I can't work out how to do it on the computer..

Also for stuff like music and photo's, how do I transfer them from my comp to the phone? Like where do I put them? I found that by just copying and pasting to the 8gig (SD card?) thingo the music came up automatically on the phone music menu thing, but is that the right way to do it?

Also is there anyway of disabling the internet? I'm not on a proper plan and don't really want the phone to be constantly using up credit to tell me that I have e-mail, or what the bloody weather is... Or does that not cost anything?

So confused! Please help!!

hei..

to copy files (music, photos or any other) to the phone is simple as that... :)
just plug in the USB, than wait for your computer to detect it, than take your phone and the screen will show: USB Connected. You have connected your phone to your computer via USB. Select the button below if you want to copy files between your computer and your android's sd card.
than you press: turn on usb storage
than browse for files on your computer and copy them on your sd card. i recomend you to organize your sd card and not just mix all files in one folder. you can make folders on sd card just like in computer. don't worry, if you make a folder of music and than if you make subfolder of one artist and than another subfolder of another artist, in phones music player will all appear... it is just for your organization. than just unmount sd card from computer and than turn of USB storage on the phone and last you unconnect the cable.. do that in this order, otherwise you might loose some data on the phone.

2. Press home / setting /wirreles&networks. here you can stop all internet connections. First is Wifi. it is free but it "eats" a lot of battery. mobile internet is slower, you pay it (3g signal). u can disable it by entering mobile networks (data enabled annd enable always -on mobile). if u dissable these 2 your phone wont be connected to internet. you won't be getting any weather inf., mail info and so on...
if you go into settings/accounts and sync you can enable background data, by that you allow aplications like wateher, to acces internet in the background, widouth you even knowing and downloading this data. it is not for free but it is also a small amount of data... i am turning mobile internet and sync-background data on every day for 10minutes, just to update weather and stuf... and my bill is always low this way :)
if you leave the background data-sync and mobile internet on 24/7.. your bill might rise a lil bit...

why don't you want to download aplications from android market?
you can go on android market, find the aplication that you want, write down the name of the aplication and go on your computer (android market is also on computer) and search for that aplication on the web. you might find downloadable version of this aplication with extenison .apk... you download that file and copy it onto SD card (like describet above) than unmount your phone, and find that aplication in your phone (using software like filemanager or astro manager) and open the blabla.apk file. your phone will ask you if you want to install the aplication, you say yes and that is it. i think you will need the file manager for this kind of installing of aplications. there are many file managers on the android market for free...

I hope this was helpful, sori for my bad english and post reply if u need anything else.
Cheers :)
