howcome Android sorta made good?

As we all know the market sucess cannot be predicted at protoge stage,so how come Android made good?----When most just fall by the wayside?
 
I think android was so succesful because it offered some of the best features of top selling platforms, was easy for manufacturers to put on phones. and its pretty simple to use.
 
Android doesn't really have any features that other phones os's don't, its just more functional.
I have a blackberry for work and web browsing is useless, so slow as to not be usable.
Windows mobile web browsing is crap since it is based on IE so half the web sites don't work that are written for standard html and the half that are ie compatible its too slow to use. Then the fragmentation is so bad you can't find software for it, you have to narrow down by version 6.0.6.1, or 6.5. Then some require different versions of .net that has to be installed first and those may not run on the version of the os you have and then narrow down between standard and pro versions.
