How's the alarm clock?

For anyone running a task killer (I use advanced task killer) you cannot kill the Clock, even though the little alarm icon will be on the top bar of the phone the alarm will not go off. Ran into this issue this morning woke up 30 minutes late.

Good to know. I had the same problem everyone else had. Thankfully the dog & wife were already up. :)

I bought the Bedside app from the Market. It triggers a blackberry-like bedside mode whenever your phone is plugged in - it disables all sounds except for phone calls and dims the screen. The alarm is set through the clock app.

it's gold with the exception of the bright bottom lights staying on.he was able to fix it on the moto once it was rooted so i guess we'll have to wait. the stock night mode is very dim but doesn't disable any sounds like bedside does.

Not to rehash what most users are saying here, but the alarm feature is very good. Actually, i forgot to set the volume properly and nearly crapped my pants waking up to how loud it is on default haha.

Just like other users said, make sure to uncheck the vibrate button at alarm screen or the noise will not go off.

I set mine and it didn't go off this morning :( Guess I need to figure out if I accidentally killed it or it was on vibrate or something...

I can't wait to get the hang of an Android phone - I have a feeling I'll never go back to a BB again :)

Thanks for this. I couldn't figure out a way to set a profile that would mute notifications for mail, FB, SMS, etc. but allow the phone to ring & the alarm to go off.

I had the same issue of the alarm not going off. I had made sure the alarm was set to go off every mon-fri, repeat, vibrate was off. I was thinking maybe it was ATK as well but that didnt make sense since when going back into the clock the settings were still there. Then I accidentially hit the volume tab and noticed that I somehow had the volume set for the alarm to 0. It has its own volume settings aside from the normal volume and apparently doesn't show up under sound and display settings which is a bit of an annoyance.

This is one of the loudest alarms I've used. other than an actual alarm clock.
and I keep forgetting to lower the sound so I've had near heart attacks the past two mornings

Mine did not go off either so I reset the time for a few minutes later and then it went off. Thing is, I had the phone set on standby (where you press the power button once to kill the screen), could this be the culprit?

Once I had the phone "awake" the alarm worked when I reset it.

Think I'll have to test it out later

If I've been using my phone all day a whole lot, this is what I'd do. A soft reboot right before bed and then set my alarm. It take 30 seconds and you know nothing else is preoccupying the phone.

I didn't anything would be as loud as my BB Bold 9000...but the Incredible definitely comes close, if not matches it. I would still say the Bold's speaker sounds a bit bitter to the ears, but for an alarm clock the Incredible does great!

ehh...not necessary...if your having problems, find the root of the problem.

Anyone know of an alarm clock app that makes it a little more difficult to snooze/dismiss? Like asking math problems or having you solve a puzzle?

I have trouble waking up in the mornings and I'm hoping that getting my brain going I'll be able to wake up. :D

search "math alarmclock" in the market

to answer a few questions, if you go to the screen where you set the alarm and hit menu - settings, there is a place there to set snooze duration. also, someone was asking about a snooze that doesn't require focusing on the screen. well apparently hitting the side butttons is also a snooze. (there is a setting there to turn the side button behavior to "none, snooze, or dismiss) btw, it was set to snooze by default on my phone.

Alarm didnt go off this morning but luckily I woke up to my BB Storm screaming. Tossed it in a drawer yesterday but forgot to turn it off... lol.

Alarm failure!

I've used the alarm for three days now, and it didn't go off in the last two days! This is getting annoying. I can set an alarm for 5 min from now and it works fine, but my morning alarm just doesn't go off for some reason even though it shows as being active, vibrate off, and the volume is up (where is "alarm" volume?)!!!

I do run the Systempanel task manager so I'm looking into the possibility that I am killing the clock process or something else that makes the alarm not work. I have now excluded the clock process from task killing.

I don't use any auto task killing function but I have manually killed all processes in the last few days - these were the days when the alarm failed. But if that's the problem, how the hell did a test alarm work last night but then the morning alarm failed? I purposefully set a test alarm last night and it worked fine. WTF?

lol at people using app killers and then wondering why random functions aren't working.

If you don't know what something is, don't touch it.

One thing many may be missing: Alarm Volume.

When you are on the alarm set screen, Click Alarm Sound (this is where you select what it sounds like). Using your volume adjustment WHILE THIS WINDOW IS OPEN is what sets the volume of the alarm itself. This is separate from your ring volume and other volume controls.

Maybe you could explain this in an equally condescending tone - how does one alarm work but then another fails? Please, enlighten me. As explained in my post, a test alarm worked fine before going to bed. This would seem to indicate that any process needed for alarm functions were active. Eight hours later, the morning alarm failed.
