Help HP Touchpad Android - 3G

serene007

Lurker
Hi all,

I have installed android OS on HP touch pad. I am in India now. I would like to know how to access the internet using 3G data card (USB port). Please let me know if it is possible to access the data card using HP touchpad? If yes which service provider's 3G data card is compatible with Android?

Please reply back to me. I need this very badly.

My understanding is the 3G is via a sim card inserted in the sim card slot on the side of your TP. I don't know what provider works, but you'll need a cell provider that's GSM based (not CDMA), which is pretty much the standard outside of the US.

If you have a cell phone with a sim card, you should be able to just stick it to your touchpad and see if it works.

Do you have a 3G model of the Touchpad or are you trying to use a Wifi version and a 3G modem?

Since you are talking about a USB port that leads me to believe that you are trying to use a USB stick of some kind.... and that won't work. USB on the Touchpad is really only set up to allow the Touchpad to essentially be a storage drive that can be connected to another computer (master). USB peripherals like cameras or card readers won't work with the Touchpad as it is.
