damn it dont know if I should wait till the mytouch HD comes out or get this now, my G1 is way overdue for a upgrade....anyone know when the myouch hd is coming out?? maybe I can wait a lil bit more for the last stretch.
 
my wifes g2 has been getting around 5M all day today. BTW, the phone is pretty sweet. makes me ALMOST want to jump ship on my epic and get one, ALMOST
 
MobileSpeedTest.com seems to measure their speeds in kilobits per second instead of kilobytes.

The original picture in this thread is only going at 1.8 Mb/s (I get those speeds on my Nexus One) when compared to celtusaz's picture above.

Dude, nobody measures bandwidth in bytes. Dunno why, I think it's a little misleading; case in point, you were mislead to believe you get 1.8 MB/s on an N1. If you really think that, go try downloading a 100 MB file. It's going to take you a lot longer than 56 seconds. Around eight times longer, I'd wager.

I believe you misread what I wrote. I wrote 1.8 Mb/s, not MB/s.

I agree, big difference there. lol.

21Mb/s = T-Mobile's HSPA+ Network (Theoretical max)
8.21Mb/s = Cletusaz (or someone else's) G2 speed.
1.8Mb/s = My Nexus One speed.

Ah, I did misread it. Sorry! But yeah, this thing is fast. :p
 
For the record, the 8.21Mb/s is someone else's. I average right around 2Mb/s in a non HSPA+ market on a mytouch slide. Fact is, tmobiles network is pretty much blazing fast right now, even when downloading music and movies, and im enjoying the shit out of it :).

Have any of you g2 owners ever seen your phone display "3g"?

Cieling fan, grats on your speeds! Nearly 7MB in less than 6 seconds is very impressive! Mind if I ask you what city you live in?
 
My G2 has been connected to H, G, and E. I didn't think to run a speed test when I had H, but it was crazy fast. Almost like Wifi.

Maybe the H speed drops with distance to the tower or something?

I think it says right in the start guide it comes with that the phone will show H for 3g, HSPA and HSPA+.

I think this might be leading to some confusion with users believing they are attached to the HSPA+ network when in fact they are connected to 3g (HSPA).

It turns out my market is now HSPA plus, it was just announced today. Here is a test i ran on my mytouch slide after reading the announcement.

yeah H is HSPA and HSPA+
E obviously is EDGE
G is GPRS (idiots in tech support tried telling me G was "3G, not sure why they dropped the 3" he said)
 
Just a small warning, most test sees you are on a mobile phone and give you a very small file to download for the test. A 10Kb file, will not give you a full picture. If you really want to test your connection, use a 30mb file, and see how long it takes to download. Oh, with hspa+ no testing it at 2am, that is not fair.
 
For what it's worth, these are my G2 speed test results

Mobile tests for me showed Download: 3822 kbps Upload: 572 kbps Ping: 71m/s

Tether test is as follows Via DSL Reports

Speed Test #92490584 by dslreports.com
Run: 2010-10-14 18:43:28 EST
Download: 5398 (Kbps)
Upload: 576 (Kbps)
In kilobytes per second: 659 down 70.3 up
Tested by server: 55 java
User: 2 @ dslreports.com
User's DNS: tmodns.net
Compared to the average of 26 tests from tmodns.net:
* download is 88% better

All tests where done in Milwaukee Wisconsin HSPA+

Mobile tests were using the same program shown in the video
