Accessories HTC 2150 + Dremel + VZW Red Case

I got my HTC 2150mAH battery today from VZW. It's HUGE, but I've been thinking about how to make it more streamlined since I heard about it. Enter my dremel work.

Dremel out the rear of the VZW snap case to match the bulge on the new battery door. Sand it down smooth, and here you have it. It's pretty nice feeling, and it doesn't bulge out too much. It's still bulkier than before, however if you had a protective case already it isn't much of a difference.

Now, my phone looks good and holds a charge longer.

NOTE:

Surprisingly that dont look half bad.
 
That does look pretty nice have to say. If you lived near me I would give you my case to dremel out!

LOL wow that looks pretty good and stylish.

Ummm where do you live? Just curious. If someone paid you would you consider doing it for them? Or is this too much work?
 
I don't know how you did it, but that looks excellent. I imagine it would look even better with a black case. Good work!

Actually I think part of why it looks good is the two colors offset each other. Just having one color will be too much and make it look like a brick again. Still better than just having the extended battery on though.
 
Are there any hardware stores you could go to and pay them to dremel this out for you?
 
Very nice. I was considering something similar for my phone. I think this gave me the motivation I needed.
 
Wow, didn't think I'd have this much of a positive response. If you guys REALLY REALLY wanted, I'd do it for $20 + cost of the case. It takes me about 1-2 hours to do this.

But, seriously you could do this with some patience and steady dremel work.

Will think about. Just curious that case you have you say is red, looks kinda orange in the pics. How does it look in actuality?
 
great work. i wonder how it would look with other cases dremmeled out. btw you are completely right about the two tone color making it more attractive.

oh you forgot to tell us,,,, hows the battery vs stock?

You can buy a dremmel for like 20 bucks. It's actually pretty easy. I remember being a kid and having a "for kids" real tool set and included one of these. Freakin awesome at 10 years old.
 
Oh one more question how did you do the circular curved areas so perfectly? Do they make a different dremel attachment for that or is that just from sanding?
 
Someone asked me how the battery was holding up

13hr and 30min since unplugged
65% battery left

Wifi, GPS always on
Screen brightness automatic
SportsTap updating
Gmail, Google Voice, Two email accounts on HTC Mail
Spent about 1 hour on the speakerphone with my gf, another 60 minutes or so using the phone with the ear piece.
Random web browsing, etc.

Cell Standby 27%
Voice Calls 26%
Phone Idle 25%
Android System 10%
Wi-Fi 9%
Display 3%

With this case mod and battery life, I think I'm going to keep it. This is also after the first full charge.
