Help htc 4g: rapidly depleting battery life, healthy battery

f3dup

Lurker
i have an evo 4g and in the past i had black tie protection through best buy. i wont get into that now....but until recently i was able to just take it in to best buy and basically trade out my phone with a day or two of loner use between evos.

so lets just say that for the moment there is no coverage on my phone, perfect time too, because the battery will not charge. this isn't your typical broken charge port answer. and yes, before you start typing, i Have bought multiple chargers in an attempt to trouble-shoot this problem myself.

THE REAL ISSUE
the charge on the phone depletes really, reeeeeally fast. Only when it is about 20 something percent or lower. at that point turning the sync off doesn't change the behavior. turning on airplane mode seems to slow that waaaay down but the battery life still plummets compared to the regular use of a healthy phone and battery.

at the point where the battery meter is in the red or yellow it doesn't actually charge anymore. the light goes on, a portion of that time, but iv'e noticed that the light dose not necessarily mean it is charging. i could turn the phone off (with or without the charger plugged in) and the battery actually seems to die while it's off! i'm not talking a couple percentage points because it had to power up and down, i'm talking like 17% to 3% for example (yes, even when it is charging, orange light and all).

at that point i cannot charge the battery in my phone. luckily my boyfriend has an evo as well, so he is able to charge the battery and the battery behaves normally in his phone. unless i charge it up all the way my phone does not read the same percentage as his phone did and will continue to die very fast. im talking his phone said 75% and my phone said 45% kind of thing.

the other day my phone acted this way no matter what the battery level was at. i turned it off and i had to continually check it to make sure the light was actually on. it was plugged in for probably a total of 12 hours before it was fully charged and then decided to only act strange at a specific point.

if it dies though, it dies hard. i'll turn the phone off with 10% battery for example and plug in the charger. the next thing i know its blinking, meaning that it's so dead it cannot turn on until it has enough power to do so. except then it stops flashing all together as if it doesn't have enough power to even do that.

multiple chargers, multiple outlets same results. pissed!
