HTC answer about battery life and dekstop dock

So I sent an email to HTC asking about the availability of the desktop dock/charger sicne due to poor battery life I wouldn't buy a Bolt until the charger was available, so here is their rather interesting response:

At this time, we do not have any information on when this acceesory will be available for sale in Verizon's retail stores. We are aware of a number of complaints about the battery life and we are looking into it through the software of the phone. We hope to have an update available in the near future to address these concerns. In the meantime, you can perform some steps to try and minimize the battery use of the device.

Try rebooting your phone every few hours. Rebooting your phone clears the phone internal memory and shuts down programs that may be running in the background and using battery.
Try turning off the data connection when not in use. Data connections in the background and syncing can cause the phone to use more battery even when sleeping
You can set your display to brightness to auto. Allowing the phone to adjust the brightness allows for optimal viewing while conserving as much battery as possible.
Setting a static (not a Live Wallpaper) can save some battery life.
If you are not in a 4G area, you can download a widget from the Android market that can toggle the 4G antenna.

I do apologize for any incovnenience that you may have experienced.

Those responses are about like buying a new car that gets terrible gas mileage, and the manufactor telling you to only drive it down hill!

I think its interesting that the said to turn on brightness to automatic. I guess then it helps with battery, it is coming from the manufacturer.

That person is a f'ing idiot. Rebooting your phone unless you have the fast boot turned on completely owns your battery. Whenever I reboot, it usually goes down like 10%

You beat me to it, I was going to say the same exact thing.

Every time I reboot, -10%, every single time.

Yeah, rebooting the Thunderbolt is a great way to drain 4%-8% of your battery instantly. Great advice.

Well guys, I did find this one on Amazon, and it looks very similar to the one that HTC was going to release. And it also charges an extra battery if needed like the HTC one was going to do. But I've never heard of this company or anything. What do you guys think?

I had seen that, it look decent, but not sure it will handle the phone with a gel case or not, the Seido looks like it has one similar then the one I posted that will handle phone with case and possibly extended battery.

Seido one looks nice since it handles covers over phone BUT, i prefer the amazon one since it can charge a spare battery at same time. I have three spare batteries i use as backup.

I ordered it, and returned it about 10 minutes later. It can't be used with any cases or extended batteries. Although the base looks angled, the TB sits completely upright it in, making the viewing angle horrible unless your eyes are at desk level. Finally, the plug IS at a slight angle, making putting the TB into the dock and taking it out difficult.

On the other hand, I'm in love with these docks. Perfectly angled and can be used with any case or battery. I bought 6 of them:

Cell Phone Docks That Work With Cases and Extended Batteries!!!

They won't charge a spare battery, but I bought the 2x 1700 mah with a charger package from eBay anyway, so I can also keep the extras charged.

what a bunch of bullshit. i cant use my phone for a desk clock while using the kickstand because it uses so much battery (not to mention watching a movie on it propped on my desk) and forget plugging it in because the charger is on the bottom... and no dock??? what a well thought out failboat to nowhere, good job verizon.

I know verizon does some stupid things but the design of the bolt has nothing to do with them. its a bad design flaw from htc.
