Root HTC boot screen changes

Does anyone know how to change the glaring, bright white HTC boot screen? I found the folder on the phone (using a root browser) that house the boot animation but couldn't find the boot screen.

Suggestions?

It's called a splash screen and if you are S-OFF you can flash the black HTC version from this post. S-ON users can't flash custom splash screens.
