my phone froze completely, wouldn't turn off, so i took out the battery, when I replaced the battery the screen went right to the boot screen! I have tried using the volume keys to scroll up and down and nothing, the person from att said to hold in the down volume while hitting power to get to the master reset screen, however it is the same screen! Am I doing something wrong, or is the down button stuck, cause i don't have to hit the down button, I just hit power and it goes right to it!!! Any answers would be much appreciated, and after reading several posts, no my phone has not been rooted, cause I'm a simple guy and don't get that into my phone....

Yeah, sounds like a hardware issue with the volume key. Being a simple guy like you say, you probably won't want to try to fix it yourself. So if it's still under warranty, try to get it replaced. Or take it to a shop that can test and fix it.
