I have finally rooted my Desire HD to a RCMix3D Android 2.3.4 sense 3.5 rom which I am loving but the only problem for me is that it no longer has the " check updates " button. Does this mean that I am now unable to recieve official HTC upgrades or will they still come through as normal. Thx Darren.

Not 100% sure mate, but as your not running an official HTC ROM i think you will not be able to recieve official updates, but im sure Prez Xyro DURX etc will be able to tell you for sure. Im on CM7 and my check updates is no longer there, not that i want it, wel chuffed with CM7

As you're rooted, you won't (or shouldn't) get official updates from HTC, as you are not running their software.
From what I've read elsewhere, correct me someone (El P/Xyro) if I'm wrong, it's not advisable to apply an HTC OTA update over a custom ROM anyway, as I think it could knacker your phone. Shouldn't really matter anyway, as custom ROM's tend to have more regular updates to them (as the devs are not tied up in red tape). Often features from/whole ROM's are available from devs way before an official version is relased anyway!
Correct, the button is a trap, don't push it. 
The entire ROM is based on HTC's source, not a new ROM from scratch so it's probably easier to leave it in than take it out.
