Hello bigcol. I placed your question in the HTC Desire forum where more users of that device might respond.
Ive finally got round to getting a HTC desire. Its locked to network 3 and has the 3 firmware on it. I want to uncock it and flash it with generic firmware. How can I do this? I need pointing ijn the right direction of a tutorial. Thanks in advance guys

Let me know how it goes as I am in the same boat as you, locked and branded. I am really nervous about screwing up my phone, so figure let someone else have a go first

If you think that sense is a resource hog then you should try Cyanogen Mod, that is what I used on my Nexus one when I rooted it and the battery lasted less than eight hours because the Rom sucked the battery dry and I tried to disable everything I could in it and it still was a worthless rom!!!
These phones are almost Bullet Proof, you would have to really do something bad to mess up the phone, if you just take your time and read everything through first you will do just fine, I know that it is nerve racking at first but as you go along it gets easy to do, plus there are so many people on here that you can turn to for help it makes it simple to do.
GIVE it a try I will bet that you will do just fine with it!!!![]()
Ok done and done, my phone is now unbranded and running the very latest Froyo HTC has to offer. The phone was rooted and now it isn't so happy with that. Went really, really easy and only took a few minutes to do. I need to re-install a few bits of software but all looks to have Sync'd back up great.
I forgot to say I already had Gold card made and that I updated with no Sim card in as read that it sometimes Sim locked if left in.
Thanks
Steve
