Help HTC DESIRDE HD broke down after update

destoyar

Lurker
sooo i updated my desire hd a couple of days ago to the latest version. i think its 2.3.5.....not really sure i aint good with this. its the one with the ring unlock. anyway, i updated thinkin "yeay new update new stuff so cool"...NOT! at first it became rly slow, had as much phone memory as a vodafone joy 845 and now i cant keep it open for more than 5 minutes. tryin removing all apps that stay open like Clipper, Tawkon, advanced task killer... nothin worked. ( every time i uninstalled one, the phone reseted. after 5 mins of waiting i removed and other one then it reseted again.... and so on.) now no application can open, not even Internet. i cant uninstall anything and its pissin me off. had problems long before update, like a minor water damage and a few tosses, but never this serious. i know it sounds impossible for an update to ruin a phone but symptoms dont lie....
even shut if down myself once it worked for a minute. then it opened on its own and started the reset cycle.

im thinkin of reseting it, its the only solution. is there any way to backup my files?

thx in advance

Welcome to AF destoyar :D

Moved to the HTC Desire forums, the guys here should be able to give you the best suggestions to fix your phone.

Welcome to the forums!

Firstly - please bear in mind that these forums are family friendly... anyone from kids to grandparents can, and do, log on here - please use family friendly language (not even if you're gonna *** out letters).

Now - in relation to your problem... it sounds like you are having a similar issue to someone else... I will link the thread for you, as it could help you with your problem - http://androidforums.com/htc-desire...pdate-uk-vodafone-branded-hd.html#post3630519

If you still get no joy by following the suggestions in that thread... removing the SD card and SIM card and trying to start your phone... if that works, try with just the SIM card... if that works, try with just the SD card... if none of that works, post back in here and we will try to help you a little further.

I believe that the SD card could be the root of the problem - I've heard about SD cards getting fried by updates before.

We'll wait to see what happens... good luck!!

sry for the bad language. its my first time period without my phone and im gettin a bit stressful.

i removed the SIM and tryed to work it. it did work without problems for 10 mins, but it shut down promptly. so my SD card is fried.... any way to back up files bofre discarding it?

Also, i tried to download something from the market, but it couldnt connect. but i had wifi conn and was able to view videos on youtube. do i need a SIM to log in to my google acc, and the market?

Don't worry - it happens to us all sometimes... was just a friendly reminder ;)

If you have an SD card reader, you should be able to plug your card in to your computer via that and may be able to save stuff from it... it's worth a try anyway! :)

Do you have a second SD card that you can try in your phone to see if you have any problems?

I am not sure if you have need the SIM in to be able to connect to your google account... try booting the phone with only the SIM card in (not the SD card) to see if it boots and doesn't keep crashing - at least that way, you'll know if it really is the SD card that is fried.

Hopefully we are getting closer to solving your problem though!! :D

added and removed both sim and sd cards a couple of times and here is the conclusion.... my sd card is fried. it causes it to overheat and makes the phone slower in general. removed it and my phone is as fast as lighting.

thx for all the advice.:D
