HTC Desire 64GB SDXC

I decided to take a gamble and purchase a 64GB card for my Desire and it works :D

I'm running Oxygen and have a 1GB EXT4 partition setup. The cache is still on the phone as I'd had problems moving that to sd before. Slowly sorting out all the duff tags from itunes and retiring my ipod.

All in all pretty pleased.

This is good news. I have a desire running on cyanogen 7. Now I can get 64gb micro SD to replace my 16gb micro SD card. What's the read & write speed like?
 
Just run a speed test and got 6mb write and 16.4mb read using sd tools. I've found it can be a bit picky with some apps2sd but it's working fine in Mildwild.

Assuming they all don't carry on with this nonsense of not having sd slots.
 
Looks like Samsung is bucking this trend with its Galaxy S3.

I don't know, just I hear people say it ain't as good as what it should of been.

Personally though, I know nothing of it.
 
I think it's a classic case of people building up hype to unreasonable levels and then being disappointed when what's announced is a more realistic commercial proposition. ;)

Sure, if it had had a quad-core chip based on the A15 architecture, a ceramic body and a 720p non-pentile AMOLED screen it would have been pretty amazing, and if that's what they expected then they will feel let down. But in the real world I don't think quad-core A15s are available, and if they can't see pentile effects on a Galaxy Note then they won't on this.

Personally I'll wait until we see it for real before forming an opinion. If it performs as described, gives good battery life, and doesn't feel too flimsy then it's a better bet than the One X IMO (for 2 obvious reasons, battery and sd slot). If it has a shoddy GPS, needs charging twice a day, or any of the many other things that hands-on impressions from the launch event can't tell us then disappointment is merited. Execution is always more important than specs alone.
 
They've come down a bit in price since I got mine so are definitely an option. I think a lot of people expected too much of the S3 as Samsung did an Apple style launch keeping it under wraps to build up hype. Personally I'm impressed with it and its looking like my next phone :D

This is exactly the reason i don't get too hyped up about stuff.

Thats right A15 is just becoming available, but A9 is old. For only 1.4Ghz, thats less than the One X thats been out a little while. I just expected them to be a little more competitive.

I reckon that a 1.5Ghz dual core Qualcom S4 would comfortably beat this A9 based quad. Heck, it half beats the 1.5Ghz A9's.

I never thought of ceramic but now you mention it, whats unrealistic about that? My watch is ceramic, I see no reason why a phone can't be ;)
 
I just got my new Desire 601 (HTC0P4E1). HTC's site said that 64 GB was its max micro SD storage, while virgin mobile only thought it was 32 GB. The reason for this disagreement is that the Desire can only hand sdhc architecture and not sdxc. Its very rare to find a 64 GB sdhc but i got lucky and my desire is working perfectly with its new 64 GB card.

I might not have gone for the risk without the help of NorthernNoel and this thread. Thanks.
