Accessories HTC Desire Battery Replacement

I have an HTC Desire. It is NOT a Desire HD. My current battery will not last out the day, so I'm looking for a replacement.

Any suggestions where the best place is to pickup a replacement battery?
I have found many Desire HD batteries. Can they be used in the Desire?

Only place I'd like to stay away from is eBay, if at all possible.

How is your battery going? My experience is that it has taken a couple of months for the battery to start working as it should. It will now last a couple of days. There is also some so called battery saving apps which really screw with the battery longevity.

I've had the phone for a few years. I think it's just time to replace the battery.
