Help Htc desire button, not working properly

hackster

Lurker
Hi!
I dropped my htc desire today.
Now i realised that my power button doesnt turn on the screen after standby, so i have to take out the battery and turn it on again ( YES THE POWER BUTTON ACTUALLY DOES TURN ON THE PHONE)

Soo, is it caused by the drop, or is it a sofware issue?

SHORT: It turns on from completely power off, but not from standby! Thanks!

ok, turn off the phone, hold vol down and press power to boot to hboot.

In here use the vol buttons to choose recovery and press power to select the option. Does it take you to recovery? If so, its likely software, however its a bit of a big coincidence...

Well, i dont have the phone with me right now..
But, im just wondering. Is it possible to be hardware? since it turns on the phone just fine?

So basically the power button.seems to work ok until android boots. Does the power button turn off the phone in android?

It does sound like software but it would be a huge coincidence.

You could try a factory reset (maybe use mybackup first) and see if this resolves.

If not, not sure

Well, a factory reset didnt fix it.
Will a unroot maybe do it?
However, i think its a hardware problem.

Would this fix it?

I dont dare buying it if im not sure it will fix :s

I'm not sure. Was it branded when you got it?

Might be worth getting the ruu for your phone, returning it to stock (if possible) and sending it to HTC for repair. They should no what the problem is and how to fix it.

Ive bought it used and with no papers, and without warranty since ive had it openeed to see if any loose cables.
So i cant really bring it to the storte :( I also dont know if it was branded.

Oh it wouldn't be covered by warranty if you dropped it anyway, but at least they will know what needs fixing. You'd still have to pay, but at least you would know it was in good hands.

Was it purchased rooted or stock? If stock, you'd notice if it was branded as it would have carrier logos all over the operating system.

Maybe just use an unbranded RUU, send it back and hope for the best.

It was purchased rooted.
When i opened it, i broke some warranty stickers.. So nahh..Also here in denmark, you need some papers if you would like to send it back. So that u can prove your the real owner.
