I bought a leather flip case from Morpeth Mobiles. It's a nice fit (although no belt loop) but then realisation has dawned !....

....
The case is nice, but what silly sod designs a magnetic case for a phone that contains magnetometers?! Any application using them (compass, google sky and even the sat nav for determining your orientation) is wildly affected if the case is within 4 feet of the phone!

Alright, just seen these on Mobilefun.co.uk

Case-Mate Barely There Case - HTC Desire - Black

I'm going to get one as my final case (2 so far!)

Can't wait, looks nice, not as much protection as Case-Mate's other cases but still worth a punt methinks.

*Edit*

Just read the reviews on Case-Mate's site - not good, may not be getting this case after all :-(

Well, my Noreve case arrived in the post a couple of days ago! It looks and feels very nice. Here's an official shot of it:

My question is this:
Do I still need my screen protector? I didn't put it on perfectly so there are some tiny air pockets by the side and near the ports, which don't affect performance in anyway but do get annoying!

Screen protectors do nothing to prevent smudging but merely reduce risk of scratches, which wouldn't be a problem underneath that strong leathery front. Do I get rid of it?

I have the Noreve case and if I didn't have a Martin Fields protector on, I would remove it. Case is excellent btw.
Thanks very much for the advice, Mathias. What's the main reason you're keeping yours on? Is it just because it was so expensive and so it would feel a waste to remove it, or are you seeing real benefits from using it?

As a side note, I'm using the official HTC screen protectors which only cost

received my PDAIR aluminium case (or for our colonial cousins across the pond, aluminum) it arrived packaged in a black cloth covered box that would not look out of place wrapped around a phone, inside is the case, wrapped up in the same type of cloth found on the box,a swivel belt clip and a PDAIR leather key ring. the case itself is a work of art, neoprene lined and fits perfectly, all buttons etc easily accessable, it weighs as much as my rubber case from mobile fun and is almost the same size, fitting in my phone pouch. i bought direct from PDAIR, for $28, or in real money

The PDAIR site is currently down :(

It's a shame the top of the front part is not symmetrical. why does that flap on the right need to be there?

Just to reiterate, if you value the navigational aids in your phone (the magnetometers, not the "sat nav") make sure that the case has no magnetic components.

My flip-case is supposedly "designed for the HTC Desire", but has a magnetic catch which (obviously) interferes with the HTC Desire magnetometers ! This adversely affects the operation of "Google Sky", any compass application and any application where the magnetometers are used to determine orientation.

It only hit me last weekend when I was showing off the phone in its case using the well-known "Google Sky" application. I pointed the camera at the moon and expected the Google map to show the moon in the right place along with all the nearby stars. It used to be spot on, but this time was nowhere to be seen. In fact the sky map was 40

I got one of these and it blew me away with the fit and finish of the case. For the price you should just buy one. It's unobtrusive, looks nice, protects your phone, and doesnt obstruct the screen. For someone working in dusty dirty outdoors places like myself it is perfect. I can now just toss the phone in a dash pocket or on a bench without worrying about scratching it.

the case has that cut out on the left at the top of the screen for the ambient light and proximity sensors, and in answer to a previous queztion, a scren protector is still needed.
,
but all in all, still a fantastic case, i leave my phone lying around when i'm working and it will provide protection when resting on dusty or gritty surfaces,

I have just bought the exact same case and screen protector (3rd different case now!) to keep my phone scratch free till one of the big companies brings one out I like, think I got mine for
