Help HTC desire firmware update problem

Hi all,

I have followed the steps outlined in the link below to try and update my HTC desire with a generic firmware.

I can do the goldcard part no problem, but the second part doesnt seem to work. After running the software update and clicking thru the options the phone goes into a reboot and the software update says it is waiting for the boot loader. Eventually this times out and the the application says that it cant connect to the phone. The phone seems stuck on the HTC screen and I have to pull the battery to reboot it.

Here are the specifics of my phone:

build number inandroid.cn
software number desire_1.0_sense
browser ver webkit 3.1

HBOOT 0.80.0000

Any suggestions?

Try rebooting your pc and starting again.

that didnt work, and I am not sure how it could have helped...? it seems to me that the bootloader on the phone isnt working quite right.
