HTC Desire HD Out Source Speaker Volume Problems

Real Loki

Newbie
Hi,

The first thing I have to say is that I love nearly everything about the Desire HD (apart from the low loud speaker, no front camera, no physical side button for the camera and the poor battery life) and it's functions keep on amazing me.

Many of my friends have the IPhone 4 which leads to inevitable phone debates but I was shown up big time last weekend when I tried to play music through my stereo speakers via a red and white connection but could hardly hear the sound even with the volume on max. It was a specific mix from the Sound Cloud App so to test if the iPhone 4 could do any better I found the exact same mix on the Sound Cloud app on his phone and connected it the same. To my annoyance although it was the exact same set up it was much louder on the iPhone 4 to the point that I couldn't even turn it up to the max volume as it was too loud!

Please can anyone tell me or post a link to a previous thread (sorry if this is a re post) as to why the volume using out source speakers via a red and white connection would be much lower than an iPhone 4 using the same?

This is a major issue for me so any comments would be much appreciated and I thank you for your time in advance!

Cheers

Loki

Were you using the red/white cables? I thought the phone only took aux cables.

Try downloading the 'volume control' app from the android market (free). This will let you make sure all of the audio options are at max.

Also, there are many threads on this forum about how to get better battery life which are very useful :)

Many thanks for the reply Brezzo. :)

Sorry I failed to mention that the red and whites from the speaker were connected to an adapter (from my gaming chair) that then goes into an aux cable. Even though some might think all these connections might be the source of the low volume problem this is the same set up the iPhone also used to have a much higher volume.

Can you please advise me on which volume control is the best (the name of who created it) as there's at least 3 called 'Volume Control'?

Also, thanks pointing me in the direction regarding the battery life. I purposly did not bring up this old chess nut that's been doing the rounds on the forums for time as I'm aware there's enough threads already and I also have 2 batteries! :D

Again, many thanks!

Cheers Ytrebil,

This sound most promising and I will test it tonight. :)

When I downloaded the other volume control apps (wasn't sure which one at the time so got the top 4) I noticed that my system volume was less than half way although the ring, notification, alarm and most importantly the media voulume were up to max.

This may sound like a stupid question but what does the system volume actually control? This appears on all 4 volume control apps but not on the defualt phone voulume so this is the first time I've seen it! Also, I would have thought that it would be the media volume that controls the internal volume as this did effect the poor low and high range I had to play with.

Cheers

I'm not sure what system volume controls exactly, but I think it might be a master volume sort of thing which, if turned down, everything is turned down.

Not sure though.

Ps. if you see a post and you want to say thanks, there's a thanks button on each post ^.^

Thanks for this mate. I downloaded the volume control app and noticed my system volume was only at 30%! Its all working now thanks for this.

The issue is a different one from the one described by the first post. My post is located here:

I've not been able to test the Volume Boost App (think 6 day trial's ran out too but will buy) as my mate's got my wires to connect to the stereo but I did notice that it increaded the sound through the headphones although sounded very different compared to the defualt sound. Anyone know how this app actually changes the sound?

I have a feeling the system volume is maybe just for the noise of selecting options and the tone on number keys etc as it hasn't seemed to make a difference to my media volume but I'm yet to test this as to any improvement through my speakers.

The fantastic app I've just found which has all the voulume controls as the others but with quick important settings like screen brightness and internet on/off is Quck settings.

I agree with VXNice that this should not be an issue and have to do hand stands just to get the basics owed in a smart phone!
