Htc desire home screens

Got a HTC desire with the stock home screens, I have it setup just perfect for me, utilizing all the 7 screens, I'm on t mobile UK, running 2.1 eclair, I'm waiting in earnest for froyo to land, not into debranding etc. One thing I've just worked out by reading reports and watching clips on you tube, 2.2 appears to have 5 home screens? But on you tube some people have froyo on their desires with the exact same UI as mine and 7 screens, some desire froyos look a different UI with 5 screens, 7 is what I started with 7 is just perfect, 7 is what I expect to keep, if it drops to 5 then that's a downgrade, I don't want a downgrade can anyone shed any light on this as multiple Google hits and I can't find an answer. You will not drop to 5, some home replacements lets you set the number of homescreens, but the stock desire setting is 7 both in 2.1 and 2.2.
