Help htc desire - insufficient memory

Always found that App2SD worked fine until a few weeks ago when Facebook started having massive updates (taking about 28Mb of phone memory)

Then I found a way to clear the cache (manually) but it kept me going for a while. Now the problem is back again, I have just installed a cache cleaner but realised that the problem wouldn't get any better so searched for exactly this thread.

Some good reading there ... the rooting sounds daunting but I'll give it a go as I am really fond of my Desire.

Thanks guys.

Rooting is quite straight forward provided you've read the guides. It won't give you any more space by itself but it unlocks the door to options that will.

I'm getting ever closer to rooting my Desire, because I'm getting tired of fighting low internal storage. I just can't quite motivate myself to read about it thoroughly and then perform the procedure.

I've recently been looking at getting a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, as I really like the vanilla Android experience, but I think I might go the root route first to see how much more life that can give my Desire.

I got a pre-owned GNex in the end, so no more insufficient memory. The size of the Desire is better for one handed use though and I will miss the optical track pad.
