Help HTC desire not powering up

Hello folks,

I yesterday received my new HTC desire.

I was understandably dying to get using it, but I inserted sim, battery, connected mains charger to phone and powered on wall socket.

The phone displayed no light or indication that it was actually charging. I also noticed that the back of the phone (around battery area) became quite warm.
I have charged the device for roughly 8 hourse, still no charging light shown, and still unable to powr on the phone!

as such, I am unable to give any firmware or baseware information!
I am running on an Orange UK pay monthly sim.

Help please!

Hi mine has also been teasing me about starting up.
It does a vibrating thing and then doesn't start.
My solution is removing the battery and power if plugged in.
Put the battery in again after 20 secs or so and turn it on.

Hope my solution also works for yours
