Help HTC Desire not syncing contacts with Windows 7

sumwun2

Lurker
Have read up on a few of the threads in here, and now have the phone syncing with the computer... However, it still WILL NOT sync contacts or calendar.
am running windows 7 64bit, and just have a plain HTC Desire...

I need to back up my contacts to install new updates... too many contacts to write down... :/

ANY HELP PLEASE

Your contacts should be being backed up/mirrored in your Gmail account and the same with calendar.

This works really well and the couple of times I've needed to copy them back onto my phone (when installing new ROMS) it's been flawless copying back from Gmail. I use Soocial to sync my contacts to Outlook and Google Calendar Sync. This means everything is always up to date in both locations.

I gave up with HTC sync, it never really worked properly.

Also you can back up your messages if you need to, either to memory card using SMS Backup & Restore or to Gmail using SMS Backup+ (both in the market).

Where does HTC Sync store the contact details on the computer. Desire is broken and I need to get them back. And no, none of them appeared in Gmail contacts despite syncing there often...

either in Outlook or Windows Mail/Contacts. If they're not there I don;t know if you'll find them anywhere.
