Hello,
My HTC desire cell phone sreen lights are off but it looks like the hardware or software are still working. Please help me out. Thanks

We could probably do with a bit more information, I'm not quite sure what you mean...
When you press the power button, it just puts the phone into standby, and it will continue to run and consume battery. To turn it off so nothing is running, you have to press and hold the power button until you get a menu, then select 'Power Off'. But the phone will take 1-2 minutes to boot fully when you turn it on, and you will not receive calls/texts.
Sorry if I'm telling you something obvious, but it was the best I could do with limited info.
