Help HTC Desire problem - cannot boot - please help

Hello,

I needed some assistance with my HTC Desire before calling it officially "bricked". Thank you in advance for all your help. A couple of days ago my phone just shutdown and would not boot past the given screen.

NO buttons are working. The power button does not do anything but turn the phone on to the following screen, after which it is unresponsive. The volume buttoms are not working and I cannot scroll up and down the menu list. No other button is responding. The only way to shut the phone down is to take out the battery. I cannot even use ADB because the kernel needs to be booted for that.

Could you please give me ideas on what I could do?

Yes, the volume down key stuck would make sense. The volume keys are currently making the clicking sound as they should, but they are somehow stuck. Any ideas on how to make it operational again?

It would behave this way if the volume down key was stuck.

I have just received a call from someone who (from what they tell me) has the same problem, although, the volume UP key moves through the choices, the volume DOWN does nothing.
Are there any tips or hints you know of to try to Unstick the volume down key??
