HTC Desire problems.

A couple of months back I changes my Googlemail to Gmail. My Desire wouldn't download apps or recieve e-mail anymore, so I changed my address back to Googlemail. I was able to recieve E-mail and download apps. A couple of nights ago, when I was using my iPad, I realised I wasn't recieving E-mail. So I tryed downloading an app and it did not work. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it because I've been using Googlemail on my iPad? I really need answers as I have no idea what to do this time!!!

i changed my googlemail account to a gmail one a few weeks back. i couldn't get the desire to change my default google account so i simply backed everything up to SD card, did a factory reset and then when starting the desire up again, just entered my google account as the gmail one. seemed to work for me. hope this is of help.
