HTC Desire - SD card change

i have htc desire and an 4 gb sd card in it. i would like to change to 8 gb card, but i have a question.
when i connect my phone with an usb to my computer, i select something like "disk drive" and then it opens a window on my computer, actually, like a normal disk drive (like C:, D:...)
what i want to know is, if i would like to move everything from an 4gb sd card to 8 gb card, which files do i have to copy? do i copy all of them or what? because some files have a dot at the beginning of a name (for example ".quickoffice")...do i have to copy even those "dotted" files, or are these files on my phone and not on my sd card?:confused:
 
I too am going to get a new Micro SD Card, since my 4 Gb that came with the phone is about full. What is the maximum card the Desire can take ?

Mymemory have a good deal on a 16Gb Class 4 card at the moment here LINKY, would this be suitable. I'm off on holidays in a couple of weeks and was thinking of putting some AVI Movies on the card to watch.

I ordered it last week when it said it was on pre-order & the release date was yesterday (Monday).

I'm not convinced it's gonna turn up TBH cos it seems to be really cheap but thought I'd give it a go :D
 
I also have questions, WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM SIZE MICRO SD CARD.should be used in an HTC DESIRE HD,i was told no more than 8gb as quality of music etc is affected,but why do they do 32gb?
