HTC Desire SIM-free gingerbread update?

Hi wonderful people :)

I have a SIM-free HTC Desire as I use multiple networks as I travel a lot around the world.
I was just wondering if anyone knew when the gingerbread update will happen and will it be available to SIM-free HTC Desire's.

Ta very much and keep up these great forums as they are a feast of knowledge for us peeps - kudos to the inventor:)

By the way guys I guess you know but your vBulletin forums are out of date as there is Version 4.1.3 now.
 
Pfft, who knows. There are many threads about this and we were expected to get Gingerbread when the Desire S came out but that's been here for ages now and still no GB for us so I have no idea, you could just root and use a Gingerbread custom ROM like me and a lot of others do. :)

Sorry about that PawPaw....:) and thanks for the suggestion ajh94 but I really do not want to go down that road as I haven't got the time to spare, unless of you are a total gent and no a step by step guide to doing it, a sort of dummies guide to adding a Gingerbread custom ROM :p

I think the update should happen very shortly. If I remember correctly, one of the operators jumped ahead announcing their updates, but were told by HTC to delay that. Within 1-2 months sounds very realistic to me.
 
Is your device originally carrier-locked? I'm assuming it's not, and if it isn't then you'll get the update the second HTC is ready. Those with phones that are carrier-locked originally may have to wait.
 
All these notes flying around saying that HTC will not now be releasing it for the Desire are starting to worry me :(
 
If I bought my phone from o2 originally and then got it unlocked to move to t-mobile which would i need to use if i wanted to go back to stock would it be o2 or tmobile ? if that makes sense
 
If the phone was originally locked on O2 then you would want to go back to O2. Why would you want to re-lock your device though? It's been pretty much confirmed they'll be no 2.3 update (officially) for the Desire, so unless it's for repair under warranty I can't see any point.

sorry but i dont think I worded the original question too good lol. what I was asking if I rooted my phone but then wanted to unroot it for whatever reason and have it the way it is now , would it be o2 or t-mobile . I`m guessing it will be tmobile but was unsure as it was originally bought from o2
 
That's a good question. Most times your current carrier would handle your repairs and refuse if it's not in the condition they sell, but where your phone isn't originally theirs doesn't have any T-Mobile branding to start with, I would say 100% stock would be fine. So you would use the HTC unbranded RUU.

Those are my thoughts, but maybe someone else has a different opinion.
