Root htc desire stuck no rsponse what so ever

when I restarted my THC desire I got this msg:

I tried to press power, volume up or down. NO response at all, just stuck so I cannot do anything, please advise. MANY THANKS

That's the bootloader screen which is normally accessed by holding the volume down key & pressing power. You may have some dirt trapped in the volume rocker our possibly a fully volume down key. Have you had any problems with the volume key before?

I have never had a problem with volume button. now when ever I put battery I have this screen and then no buttons working what so ever.

Does the volume control feel normal? Do you hear a click when you press each button? If you've had no previous problems there may be some dirt or grit jamming the button in the on position. Try wiggling the rocker back & forth while blowing into the gap around it.

No buttons responding whatsoever is what happens if a button is jammed on. I've tried this - kept one button depressed when in the bootloader and the others do not respond. So if the button has jammed/shorted on then that would produce these symptoms.
