Help Htc desire usb is not properly detecting

i tried in multiple laptops of windows 7, my htc desire 2.1 usb sometimes doesn't detect at all. its totally weird, out of 10 times try, its work for one time. Sometimes its auto disconnect, in mid of file transfer.
Even i tried to installed android usb drivers, but no use. Any solution for this.

Does the phone charge OK using the same USB cable?

I've had issues with this with cheap USB cables. I only use the HTC supplied or branded cables sourced from a reputable supplier now.

Yes, it's a same cable for both charger and usb. Charging is working well. It's a original cable comes with phone.

Does the phone charge OK using the same USB cable?

if its charging ok, the cable's probably ok - are you selecting disk drive from the notifications bar? Are you doing anything on the phone when it disconnects?
