Help HTC Desire with broken screen - Retrieving numbers and SMS

i regrettably dropped my HTC desire recently and cracked the screen
I have a lot of numbers saved to the phone that i would like to get, and if possible all the SMS messages that were sent.
is it possible to retrieve this data by using the data cable plugged in to my computer?
BTW have a new desire now claimed thru insurance

Well, if you were logged in to your gmail account through the phone, it should have synced your contact to your gmail, unless you disabled it?

You should check it out, by clicking contacts on gmail.com.


Other than that, I'm not sure.. you should try to backup your phone every now and then.. I personally sync my contacts and sms to gmail, plus I take random backups of my phone when I remember to.

thanks i will try that with new phone, dont think i did it with the old one.
am looking at getting a new screen off ebay to get it running again
