Help HTC Desire Z Apps don't work after Upgrade

Hi, I'm new to this forum but have seen many good posts which have helped.
I have just upgraded my software to 2.3.3 on Vodafone UK and many apps have stopped working. One of my most useful navfree won't even launch let alone work. Many others work either slower or again won't launch and if they do they don't work properly. Any ideas? Can I revert back to 2.2 where everything was fine? If so how?

All, for an update. I was told to do a factory reset to solve the issue. This was done, however, the handset didn't revert back to the old software, but remained with 2.3.3. Since the upgrade signal qaulity has been poor ( other vodafone phones had full signal when I had nothing), handset keeps resetting (loading) and geberally very poor signal. It's poor considering these phones are supposed to be state of the art!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
