Help HTC Desire Z Blank Screen

I have been using Desire Z for a month now and it is a damn good phone or so I thought till one day the screen went blank. I have not rooted it or done anything apart from normal usage. I could see the phone starting and vibrating. The 4 buttons light are working. But screen is blank. Is there a way out? The phone was bought in UK and is being used in India. This model is not yet available in India. Local HTC service centre are not ready to take it up. Any idea, how this can problem can be solved.

i'm assuming the usual turn off and on trick doesnt work?
in which case if this doesnt sort it then it could be a hardware issue, of a faulty screen. if the service centre in India wont take it, theres plenty of places on the internet where you can send it off to be repaired.
