HTC Desire

Nexus one has the qualcomm chip 8250 which has 720p recording built in. They will probably release software update later. They have their hands full of trying to get the nexus one to stay on 3g instead of rolling out the 720p recording. Us verizon people need the qualcomm 8650 chip in a phone for this.

Actually it only says it has 720p playback builtinn, not recording.

They are probably focusing on other, more important parts of the software before they add this new feature. While it may sound easy to add 720p recording to the phone, it definitively isn't.

Even though HTC Desire has better hardware, I think the Hero looks much much better. As far as i've seen in the pictures, the build quality doesn't seem to be as 'industrial' as the Hero is.

Will it be cheaper than the Nexus One?

Looks like someone in China got their hands on an HTC Desire (outside of a tradeshow, thank goodness), and put it through it's paces in a 13-page review. The translation to English is a bit rough, but have a look:

Fortunately, there are lots of photos and some good comparison shots with the Nexus One.

Although the Desire and Nexus One batteries are very similar, they are apparently not interchangeable.
