Help htc desire

Hello and welcome to Android Forums. Are you talking about the notification light? A steady red/orange light usually means that battery is charging. And a blinking red/orange light means the battery needs charging. Is the charger connected to the device when the red light is on?

Red light started two days ago, its not connected to the charger,when it is the light turns orange as normal.
 
Okay, here's my suggestion.. check in to your device's support forum to see if this problem has been affecting anyone else with this device, or its just affecting you.

You may also want to consider taking the device in for a diagnostic test.

Hmm, done a bit of searching, found a couple of other instances of this, no resolution (people have tried different batteries and factory reset without resolving it).

The user guide (yes, I checked that!) says a solid red light = charging and a flashing one = battery low, but I think that just means that HTC call orange "red"! This is in the same location as the orange light? Just wanted to be sure you aren't seeing a faint glow from the proximity sensor (something I've never seen, but found reports of).
 
Emailed htc; who had no answer to the problem, they told me to send the phone to a repair centre in the UK, ANSWER NO.I now know how to fix "RED LIGHT ON" problem.
Will post later with fix.
