HTC desire's face detection capabilities

does anyone know how does face detection work in the desire's camera. i have it enabled but i don't see any changes. any ideas guys?

Ive not used it alot -but before i take a picture of someone i press the screen where there face is and it puts a box around it. Seems to keep it in focus then.

I was having the same problem with the face detection not doing anything.

I didn't really do anything to fix it, but it started working for me after I tested the self-portrait option of the camera. This setting waits until it detects one or two faces (depending on what you set it to) before taking a picture.

I watched what it was doing by taking a photo of my wife and it drew a box around her face then took the photo.

When I then turned the 'self-portrait' setting off, the face detection started working.

Hope this helps.

uhm are you guys saying when it detects a face it will auto take a pic?
mine isnt doing that, it will draw the box and follow it but it doesnt take a pic even if the person is still.

No. Usually, you can tap the screen to instruct the camera to keep those screen coordinates in focus. But if what you tap happens to be a face, the point of focus will not be those particular screen coordinates, but will move around as the face (or the camera) moves around. In either case, you still want to trigger the camera manually.

The auto picture taking only works if you select the 'Self Portrait' settings. I am assuming they have included this if you want to take a photo of yourself, which would be difficult without this feature because to the lack of a camera button.
