Help HTC DHD Won't connect to PC

I plug my phone in to my laptop, and it just thinks its being charged, it doesnt even regester that it's connected to a PC. It's really starting to bug me now, this is my second HTC DHD and that one had the same problem after a while, can someone help please?

Is USB Debugging on? Is HTC Sync installed?

Settings>Connect to PC is "Ask me" checked, and what is default connection type set to?

I was finding the same thing whenever I connected to my work PC. Turns out the USB cable I was borrowing off my colleague was a cheap Chinese import that was faulty.

Used a different cable and all is working. Obviously the cable that came with the phone is definitely going to work
