Help Htc eris please help i lost my original message icon/app can someone please help me?

i need help my phone died the other day and wen i
turned it on my native message icon/app was gone i cant text or receive text anymore and i dont wanna do a factory reset because the phone is flashed to metro pcs i dont wanna loose my flash.i tryed the apps chomp and go sms go but i still cant recieve text and no mms please help i want the original/native message app/icon back that came with the phone and wanna be able to recieve text messages and send recieve mms can someone please help its getting me mad

As far as I know a factory reset won't change your flash. Maybe someone who knows more will chime in here.
