Root Htc evo 3D ROMs

Just wanted to weigh in here. I am running the VM Evo 3D RUU leak on my sprint branded evo 3d. My sprint branded 3D is on the VM network and having no issues. Yes that also means im running the sprint branded 3D kernel. So yes. They will work interchangeably. The only exception is going to be MMS. Which will have to be patched to work on VM. I plan on getting this phone on release day. I plan to have official CWM support same day also.
 
I feel like the ROMs are going to be a hit and miss. I say this because with people flashing their Evo 4gs to VM, they have to use non-sense ROMs in order to have fully functional MMS

Coming from a porter, ROMs definitely won't be too hard. I can almost guarantee there's not going to need any boot.img edits. But possibly some ril libs and CdmaSMSDispatcher switches/edits. But seeing as they're the same exact phone, I couldn't see too much of a problem.

I even had a evo4g on vm and was able to use sense toms. Yes with mms and everything working. I am currently doing the cm9 port for evo4g.

Nice to talk to another dev :)

But that's really weird. I heard Leslie say that sense ROMs weren't compatible with the CdmaSMSDispatcher trick.

Well yeah not compatible with the aosp type. But wildfire s has sense so I was using that modified. But basically why would you flash anything less than 3.6? So having to do the dispatcher hack should already work in existing conditions
 
Also, as a side note I already have cm9 and a custom rom done. Just waiting patiently a few days till i get device in hand. And I am hoping it ships with hboot 1.50 as the unlimited.io s-off will work with it

how did you manage to get it working? i tried using wildfire s smali but phone kept FC'ing
would you mind sharing your modded smali?
