Root HTC Evo 4G - Camera Issues

I am currently using MiKG 3.11 with Anthrax 2.6.38.6 and I use my phone mainly for multimedia purposes like music and playing videos. Another is taking pictures and videos and then social networking.


My biggest problem is my camera. It freezes after taking 5 - 6 shots. And then a reboot is needed. I searched for threads which has a clear solution about this but I was unlucky. Do I just need a new ROM? or a Kernel perhaps?

I am out of options here, Tried replacing batteries, SD cards but still the same. All other stuff are working just fine except for the camera. A workaround is fine but a solution if possible is what I would want.

Try a different kernel. I have had that happen on anthrax.is that 004 or test009? I always had better luck with 009
 
Out of frustration, I flashed 2 other ROMs :D TommyTomatoes " The classic " is really nice, As well as the MIUI's ICS rom for Evo 4G, Both are nice.. But is missing my favorite option which is Internet Passthrough. So I guess I am still in love with MikG 3.11 :P

Alright, I will give it a try oncbrze. Hopefully it fixes it. :)
Brent I am using the 004 currently. I will give the 009 a try. I just downloaded it.
 
I am running now the version 009. It was smoother in terms of application performance and the battery seems a little better. But still the camera problem occurs. I guess it really is a kernel problem. I will try out a different kernel. If it will persist, I guess a camera application is my last resort.

I love my EVO 4G but I guess if it cant be fixed I might just grab a newer unit. (Preferably a Motorola Photon or an HTC Evo 3D )

So now I guess whats left is to look for a camera friendly kernel for MikG 3.11 :p
 
You were right Brent, It was on the kernel. I tried the stock kernel and all my camera shots were uninterrupted. No freezes or whatsoever. But I returned to the Anthrax V009. The smoothness and responsiveness I had was something I cant let go, Plus I was able to surpass my previous clock speed back at V004 there.. (1190 VS 1228)

I just installed a camera app as a workaround (CameraZOOM FX) and it was working really nice not to mention the nice edits (Goodbye oily face :D)

For the days to come I guess I will try flashing more kernels and roms to see which one will work for me until I have saved enough money for an Evo 3D or probably a Photon from Moto.

Brent and Oncbrze, Thank you very much for the patience and attention you guys had shown to noob like me. Hope you will be able to help more android babies like me here. Regards.
 
Rxpert83 its vice-versa.. For tethering (from what I know) the phone shares its network to the computer.. While the internet pass-through option lets me use the speed of the internet connection on my PC :)
 
Ahh yes I always forget thats an option :o

Never used it myself. I'm constantly on WIFI though so I guess thats similar :D
 
Yeah its something that's not used by most people. A lot would say: " You are already on your computer, Why do the stuff on your phone? 0_o " Haha :D

I just use it when I upload pictures on social networking sites. It may sound lazy but I don't want to bother copying files on my PC then upload and then erase. I don't have a super connection so when I upload something on my computer then surf at the same time I get annoyed cause its sloweeeed :P

Internet pass through for some reason doesn't affect the internet connection that much on the PC even when downloading/uploading. So when I upload 100+ high quality pics, I do my surfing at the same time :)
 
I flashed Underworld 7 kernel and all is well. Though in my personal experience AnthraX is better overall for my EVO running MikG 3.11, If only the camera is working properly it will be my favorite kernel. But underworld did it for me. Though not as fast and smooth as AnthraX, Battery life is way way better. Plus no camera issues :D

I give my thanks to all the people who responded and shared their insights and ideas. Problem solved :)
