Help HTC EVO 4G---Dialer Storage at 35MB

I cannot figure how to shrink the storage space.
I have deleted all mms and most sms. Deleted call long and voice mails.
I've tried exporting>deleting>importing contacts to delete duplicates, but it did not work. I cant even delete contacts by long-pressing and deleting.
I have 928 google contacts, 62 phone and 171 htc sense.
Anyone have any ideas as to the actual problem and how to solve it...:questionmark:

Are you talking about the RAM used by the dialer or the amount of internal storage space being used by the dialer app? Nothing will change the RAM used by it, and I think maybe the only thing that would be stored in the dialer that you deleted is the call log history. SMS and MMS are not associated with the dialer.

Is it causing you a problem of some kind?

I am having the same issue. When storage space gets low on my HTC Evo 4G, I get an icon in the tray that says "Phone storage space is getting low". Its more of an annoyance, because the aler cannot be cleared.

It only becomes a problem when I want to download another app, or update an existing, and my phone does not have enough space to do so
(which is the error it pops up with).

When I click the alert, the "App Management" within the settings opens. I sort by how much space each app takes up. My Dialer Storage is second most storage consumption at 21 MB, just after Facebook with 25 MB. Normally when I click each app, I get the option to "Clear Data" and "Clear Cache", with each option listing how much space is being used. However, Dialer Storage shows Data at the 21 MB, but the button to clear it is not an option.

Soooo.... I would like to know what is taking up this, assuming, permanent space? Its frustrating trying to update apps and being unable to.

Thanks!

Not the amt of RAM but the internal storage space it's using up. not the dialer app, but dialer storage.

But, the question is, how to reduce Dialer Storage without doing a hard reset.

Update: Deleting my large texts with pix solved the issue.

I've run into the same issue, though my dialer storage was at 141MB. In reading the threads I see that some have 4000+ messages and not this issue and some have deleted threads and reduced their overall dialer storage size.

Any image I send through adds to the size of the dialer storage. I tested with a file I had in my photos, looked at the Dailer storage before and after and sending it out and deleting the thread had a direct impact on the size of dailer storage.

I thin it must cache all those images I've sent somewhere other than just in 'pictures' ...though this sounds inefficient.

Hope this clarifies at least a work around.
