FM Radio not receiving stations? Per HTC Tech Support, the HTC EVO 4g FM Radio will NOT work unless you use a headset that includes an inline microphone. The EVO's mic jack requires a plug with three (3) rings on the tip in order to connect with the antenna circuit; the normal stereo headphone plug has only two (2) rings at the tip, so the plug does not connect to the antenna circuit and the radio gets no reception. Hope this solves your issue!

Just verified that it still works fine with my super-cheap-crappy earphones with no microphone.
I had a portable cd player a few years ago that had three rings on the plug. The third ring was used to send the play/pause/fast forward/rewind controls to the cd player. Anybody know if the EVO has the same functionality via the third ring?
Also, my mp3 player had a switch for switching between the onboard speaker and the headphone jack for output, but would still require headphones plugged in to receive fm radio. I could plug the headphones in and switch to the speaker and listen to the radio. Maybe it's possible to make a widget to force the speaker to stay on when headphones are plugged in?

This has been a known thing since launch. Some people have DIY'd it by bending up the pin on the inside a little bit.
